Private Art Instruction Guidelines + Policies
Please thoroughly read and familiarize yourself with Dragonfly Art Gallery's guidelines and policies prior to your first lesson! Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Thank you!
Remember, first and foremost we are a fine art gallery. Professional artists' works are on display. We want you to have fun and enjoy class time but please take care when you are in the gallery and abide by the following:
- Be respectful
- Don’t touch the art
- No flash photography
- Be respectful of the artists
- No running or horseplay
- No smoking or vaping
- Be considerate of others
- Children must be supervised
- No climbing or sitting on pedestals
- Be mindful of what you bring in
Cancellation or Rescheduling
If for any reason you cannot make your lesson, guardians are responsible for notifying Dragonfly Art Gallery of a student’s absence prior to the start time. Please note our professional instructors are booked days in advance for all Private lessons and cannot be canceled last minute. If you need to cancel a private lesson, please notify us through email or a phone call at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled lesson. Unless there is a serious emergency, last minute rescheduling, cancellations and no-shows count as one instruction lesson and will not be refunded. If you are running late to your lesson please text me!
Inclement Weather
We live in Wisconsin, inclement weather is bound to happen! We will announce our closing and lesson cancellations on social media. Dragonfly Art Gallery will follow the Milton School Districts inclement weather protocol. When Milton schools dismiss early or are closed for the day and after school / evening activities are canceled we are also closed and all private lessons will be canceled.
Too Sick for Your Lesson?
Below are guidelines to help determine when to cancel your private art lesson. These are based on Wisconsin’s Department of Public Instruction provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- A fever 100 or more. May return when fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
- Any vomiting or diarrhea. May return 24 hours after the last episode.
- Any new rash accompanied by a fever. May return after the rash goes away or clearance given by a health care provider or on an antibiotic for at least 24 hours.
- Skin lesions/sores that have drainage that cannot be contained within a bandage OR sores that are increasing in size OR new sores are developing day-to-day.
- Cough that is serious, sustained coughing, shortness of breath, or difficulty breathing.
- Has been diagnosed or has been around someone with Covid-19 within the past 14 days.
Class Start and End Times
Absolutely No early drop offs or late pick ups please!
All students are expected to arrive on time and all minor students must be picked up promptly. Classes start and end at the agreed upon times.
Works in Progress
In the case of artworks in progress that are wet and drying, we will keep it for you until your next session or until you are completed with your project. If your work is finished and is wet at the end of class, please pick it up within 1 week of leaving it at the Gallery. If you cannot pick up your work within the expected one week period, you need to discuss with your instructor and agree upon an alternative pick up date. All work must have your name on it. Dragonfly Art Gallery is not responsible for work left in the studio for extended long periods of time.
Children and Supervision
Dragonfly Art Gallery does not accept responsibility for children except during the time of their instruction when they are under appropriate supervision. If you are taking a lesson please find appropriate childcare as we do not have a suitable area or staff to care for them. We want you to make the most out of your lesson and be present and able to focus on your art. Please no early drop-offs or late pick-ups as we are a place of business and have meetings, clients, art collectors etc. visiting the gallery regularly.
Disabilities and Special Needs
For adults or guardians with children with any physical or mental disabilities or special needs, please contact us so we can let you know if lessons at the Dragonfly Art Gallery would be the right fit for you or your child. Email us any specific instructions or requests prior to the lesson so we can assist you. This information will not be shared and is only to best serve you or your child.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Respect for self and others is a must. Dragonfly Art Gallery has a strict zero-tolerance policy on any sort of disruptive behavior such as harassment and bullying of any sort. This is regardless of age, race or gender. Our gallery is a safe place for creative learning. We reserve the right to remove any student from the premises or exclude from activities, anyone that deems necessary, that violates our practices and policies.
Photos & Media
Dragonfly Art Gallery may take photographs or videos of artwork or work in progress during lessons, programs and events. Which may or may not be used for publicity purposes. These photos may be published on our social media pages or platforms, website or on other promotional materials or in other promotional media. NO STUDENT will be identified in these photographs or tagged / identified in any photo without their consent. All photographs are the property of Dragonfly Art Gallery. We value and are protective of our students, their interests and privacy.
